Composite material testing plan
As the first dedicated testing solution for carbon fiber components, the Apodius 3D composite material testing system launched by Hexagon Intelligent Manufacturing Group can not only detect defects in composite materials, but also digitize 3D parts, providing a perfect solution for the measurement and analysis of carbon fiber components. Based on advanced camera imaging systems and specially designed software systems for analyzing composite material components, this solution provides unparalleled defect detection and fully digital measurement capabilities for carbon fiber material parts.
This solution consists of two parts: Apodius Explorer 3D measurement software and HP-C-V3D Apodius optical sensor hardware. It is designed specifically for the Hexagon articulated arm measuring machine (with built-in laser type) and can be used perfectly together. It can also achieve surface texture mapping of composite material products and automatic acquisition of geometric features of all parts. The system projects the recorded fiber angles and actual surface texture images onto a triangular mesh surface generated from scanned data, providing three-dimensional fiber direction measurement and comparing it with simulated or design data to determine geometric deviations and fiber orientation. It also records and classifies defect types such as folding, gaps, fluctuations, and wrinkles that were previously difficult to measure.
The Hexagon absolute articulated arm measuring machine can serve as a global benchmark for HP-C-V3D Apodius optical sensor data acquisition, making it an important component in the fully digital measurement and analysis process. The full system certification of the Hexagon absolute articulated arm measuring machine standard ensures the accuracy of the captured data comprehensively.
